About the VIHSS

The Vancouver Island Hare Scramble Series (VIHSS) is a popular, and growing, off-road motorcycle racing series on scenic Vancouver Island on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada.
It was founded in 2010 by local riders who recognized the need for a Vancouver Island series after organizing a successful hare scramble event at Whiskey Creek in Qualicum. This initiative led to the formation of the Vancouver Island Dirt Riders Association (VIDRA), a non-profit society dedicated to supporting the off-road motorcycle community.
Since its inception, the VIHSS has grown steadily, offering a series of races across various locations on the island. The series includes multiple classes to accommodate different skill levels and has expanded to feature a Kids Series, encouraging youth participation in the sport.
Races are typically held over weekends, with the C classes racing on Saturdays and the A & B classes racing on Sunday.
Spectators are welcome. The best views usually involve a little bit of hiking into the woods.
Over the years, the VIHSS has become a cornerstone of the off-road motorcycling community on Vancouver Island, fostering a vibrant racing culture and supporting riders of all ages and skill levels.
race registration
You can register online for each race as the races are announced. As long as your membership has been processed, you’re good to go.
We typically only open the registration for one race at a time so things don’t get too confusing.
